PULL TYPE SEED STRIPPER EXTRA INFORMATION

Ecological restoration is easier with a Seed Stripper from Prairie Habitats

Our patented Pull Type Seed Strippers (PTSS) come in 4 foot or 6 foot models.

Developed for use in rugged terrain and ecologically sensitive areas, Prairie Habitats' PTSS let you harvest the seeds you need, with little environmental impact. Powered by a fuel efficient, low maintenance, reliable, Briggs & Stratton Intek 6.5 hp OHV gasoline engine, the PTSS can harvest numerous species of seed or leaves efficiently under a wide variety of field conditions. The standard dual-stage brush effectively combs the seed off plants, while the rotation sets up an airflow that pulls the seed into the hopper. Or try our new optional ripper head that is designed for more aggressive harvesting of tough-headed wilflowers such as Echinacea. Easy to use sliding hitch converts from transport to harvesting mode in a few seconds with no tools needed. Integrated hydraulics allow you to couple with your tractor's hydraulic system for infinitely variable height control. Or use our manual hydraulic pump to raise and lower the PTSS just as easily.

Our seed strippers pay for themselves! Compare the cost of a Prairie Habitats PTSS with buying native seeds commercially. Get the volumes of seed and the species diversity you need for ecological restoration projects.

Harvest seeds quickly and efficiently from nurseries or other small plots, too. Still picking wildflower, herbal or medicinal plant seeds by hand? Increase you efficiency with a PTSS.

Pull Type Seed Strippers from Prairie Habitats:

Roadside harvesting with a PTSS.

  • Designed for harvesting natural areas (native prairies, wetland edges, alpine meadows, etc.) AND nursery seed plots (wildflowers and forbs, herbal and medicinal plants, etc.).

  • Rugged design allows access to areas such as road allowances, rocky pastures, ditches & fence rows.

  • Ideal for larger prairie areas, where due to ecologically sensitivity regular farm machinery, such as swathers & combines, cannot be permitted.

  • 1.2 m or 1.8 m (4 or 6 ft) wide reversible nylon bristle brush, sweeps clean seed gently into hopper, leaving the stalks intact; or you can set the brush to harvest leaves and petals of medicinal, herbal and spice crops.

    PTSS paired for greater efficiency.

  • Harvests a wide variety of grass, wildflower, legume, herb, forage, shrub & wetland seeds.

  • Low ground pressure, prevents damage to ecologically sensitive areas.

  • Height adjustable from ground level to 1.8 m (6 ft) for 1.2 m (4 ft) wide model, to 2.3 m (7.5 ft) for 3.7 m (12 ft) wide model allowing harvest of tall, mixed, & short grass prairie species.

  • Pulled by a small 15 to 25 horse power tractor, all terrain vehicle, or draft animal.

  • Easy to clean & maintain.

  • Seed bagged right in the field using standard grain bags.
